Dear friends and fellow book-lovers,

The time has come to celebrate the written word again! After 2007’s whirlwind of activities, crossing to and fro between rooms at The Arts House, 2009 is inviting everyone to jump UNderCovers with your favourite writers this year!

Singapore Writers Festival 2009 (SWF 09) takes place between 24 October to 1 November, and the theme this year is UNderCovers. There will be something suitable for everyone whether you love thrillers and mysteries, fairy tales, or enjoy a tale or two about the dark side of the human condition.

During these nine days, we will need volunteers to ensure the smooth flow of events and human traffic and that the whole SWF experience is a most comfortable one!

If you have a passion for the literary arts, would love to diversify your working experience as venue/event managers or as artist liaison staff, and is a keen learner, WE WANT YOU!

JOB DUTIES include:

Artist Liaison
•    Meet with writers at the airport, accompany them to the hotel upon arrival and bring them to the airport for departure
•    Accompany writers to and fro hotel and festival venue(s)
•    Standby at writers’ sessions to help with writers’ requests
•    Volunteer for at least 2 writers

Venue/Event Managers
•    Registration
•    Ensuring that bottled water, clipboards and pens are refreshed at every session
•    Door & Venue ushers
•    Timekeeper
•    Floor manager
•    Audience surveys
•    Volunteer for 2 weekends, at least 2 days each weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun)

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

•    You must be 16 years old and above
•    Have a keen interest in event management and the literary arts
•    Committed, Responsible and have a Positive Attitude
