Heralded as an original new voice in Australian hip-hop, Omar is the 2008 Australian Poetry Slam champion and winner of the British Council’s Realise Your Dream award in 2007. Raised in Queanbeyan, Australia, as part of an artistic family, the Malaysian-Australian baritone later relocated to London to work with grime star Akala and slam poet Jahnell. He has recorded with the J Records band, 2AM Club, in Los Angeles. His debut music release is The Massive EP, which was recorded with veteran producer Geoff Stanfield in Seattle in the United States.


What book would you like to snuggle under covers with, and why?
"I would like to snuggle UnderCovers with Stef Penney's "The Tenderness of Wolves". As the characters solve an intricate murder mystery, while trudging through the freezing Canadian wilderness, it would make me appreciate being snugly under blankets all the more!"
