Can literary enemies become friends? In this fun social experiment, participants will be paired up with their polar opposites to square off in a quick-fire debate! Players can choose from a selection of light-hearted topics, including: Ghibli vs Pixar; Cool Heroes vs Badass Supervillains; Happy Endings vs Sad Endings; Board Games vs Video Games; eBooks vs Physical Books; and TikTok: Love It or Hate It? Winners stand to win up to $100 worth of book vouchers.

How It Works

To participate, complete this quiz to determine your debate topic. Once you've completed the quiz, you'll be informed of your topic via email. Afterwards, you can either spend your time diligently preparing your pointers for the 7-minute debate, or you can show up and wing it! No pressure - your only audience is your partner and a pair of other players who will vote to determine the winner of the debate. One more thing: before the debate, you'll engage in a competitive 1v1 Tetris Battle with your partner to win an extra minute for your argument during the debate!

At the end of the game, we will have a final challenge for all the teams to win another set of prizes. To win, you'll need to put aside your differences and work together with your former opponent.

This programme is co-presented with Sing Lit Station and will be conducted digitally on Gather Town, an immersive virtual world.
