Leïla Slimani is a French-Moroccan writer, and the bestselling author of The Perfect Nanny (published as Lullaby outside the US), one of The New York Times Book Review’s 10 Best Books of 2018. She was the first Moroccan woman to win France’s most prestigious literary prize, the Prix Goncourt, for Lullaby, and also won the La Mamounia Prize for her 2019 novel Adèle. A journalist and frequent commentator on women’s and human rights, she currently lives in Paris.
Meira Chand is of Indian-Swiss heritage, and has lived in Japan, India, and Singapore. Her multicultural heritage is reflected in her nine novels. She is best known for A Different Sky, which was long-listed for the Impac Dublin Award 2012, and was on Oprah Winfrey’s Book Club recommended reading list.
