About

‘Teaching is hard, please be gentle’ isn’t just a feel-good platitude. It sums up the many observations the author had made and lessons he had learnt both in and outside the classroom over the last few years. Teaching is hard, so teachers have to constantly learn. Both instructors and the instructed have to be gentle with each other, which means more mutual understanding and consideration.

A teacher educates people; an educated person teaches. Many people have expectations of teachers, but sometimes, these impossibly high demands leave good teachers overwhelmed and broken. Whether readers/members of the audience are parents, students, colleagues, or teachers who have just read this book, please be gentle with the teachers around you, or with yourselves. Because teaching is hard.
