Volunteer period from 4 November 2022 - 20 November 2022
We are looking for courteous, committed, and responsible individuals who are keen to interact with new people and play a key role in ensuring the festival operates smoothly. A positive working and learning attitude is always appreciated and we will do our best to provide a supportive and welcome environment.
All SWF volunteers are crucial to the festival's success as they will take on the roles of festival ambassadors and be a welcoming face that anyone can approach for queries and help.
- Applicants must be Singaporean/PR
- Aged 18 and above (as of September 2022)
- Fully vaccinated with up-to-date boosters (by end of September 2022)
- Comfortable with interacting with the general public
- Possess a customer service attitude
- Able to handle some physical work
Compulsory Volunteer Briefing/Site Recce
All volunteers are required to attend compulsory briefing(s) and site recce(s) in October 2022 (dates to be confirmed) to learn more about the Festival, its venues, roles and standard operating procedures.
Volunteers will be rostered into shifts depending on their availability as indicated on the signup form. Meal allowances will be provided should shifts cross mealtimes (min.5 hours per shift), and transport reimbursement will be allowed for shifts that end past 11.30pm or commence before 7.00am.
Token of Appreciation
All volunteers who are selected to support SWF 2022 are greatly appreciated and will receive the following as tokens of appreciation:
- Complimentary SWF 2022 Festival Pass (allows access to all Festival Pass events and discounts to individually ticketed programmes)
- Complimentary Book Vouchers (voucher denominations will be based on shift durations)
- Complimentary SWF 2022 Merchandise (select merchandise)
- E-Certificate of Participation
You will be posted at the Festival venues to assist with ticket scanning, registration for the special on – site programmes, ushering, crowd control, implementing and managing safe management measures, and attending to patrons' queries.
Information Counter Assistant
You will be posted at The Arts House to assist with answering queries from the general public, patrons and authors arriving for their programmes. ICA volunteers will also help maintain the Information Counter set up and update the relevant information boards.
Digital Ambassador (TBC)
You will be required to assist the FOH team for the online SWF 2022 programmes. These include checking and admitting patrons, interacting, and assisting patrons before and during the programmes, i.e.: checking that their peripherals (headphones, microphones, camera) are working and troubleshooting any technical issues.
Author Welfare Support
Author Liaison Officer
As key point of contact for the authors taking part in SWF, you will manage transport coordination to/fro hotel and accommodations as well as provide support for their official engagements with the festival. As a representative of SWF, you will be vital in ensuring that the authors’ needs are well communicated to the relevant parties in charge and reasonably managed, in line with the festival’s policies.
You will be required to assist with hospitality requirements for the authors, which includes the setting up and teardown of designated hospitality areas/spaces, managing inventories and coordinating distributions of hospitality provisions, assist with purchases and any other adhoc hospitality requests that the festival accommodates.
You will be stationed in the secretariat office at the Festival Village which functions as the nerve centre for all volunteers and relevant stakeholders. With a keen eye for detail, you will support the Secretariat with volunteers' schedules, deployments and welfare, work closely with the FOH managers, and maintain records and documentations where necessary. You may also step in to replace manpower if needed!
Bookstore Assistant (TBC)
Working with the bookstore manager, bookstore assistants will help manage signing sessions by assisting with crowd control, maintaining the book signing areas and assist with stock – taking and enquiries.
