Josephine Chia writes both fiction and non-fiction, particularly about her Peranakan heritage and her impoverished kampong upbringing. Josephine has won literary awards and prizes in UK and Singapore, including the 2014 Singapore Literature Prize for Kampong Spirit – Gotong Royong: Life in Potong Pasir 1955 to 1965, Big Tree in a Small Pot, and her children’s novel Queen of the Sky.
